How GOOT makes money.
GOOT is a small, opinionated travel site. We're free to read because of affiliate partnerships — not ads, not sponsored posts, not pay-to-play hotel listings. This page explains exactly how that works, in plain language.
What an affiliate link is
When you book a hotel, flight, or other travel through a link on GOOT, the booking partner may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you'd pay going to the partner directly. The partner shares a slice of what they earn with the site that referred you.
What it doesn't change
Commissions never decide which trips or hotels make the list. We pick a destination first, then we pick the hotel that anchors the weekend, then we figure out which affiliate program (if any) covers it. If the right hotel isn't in any of our programs, we still list it — we just link directly to the hotel's own booking page and don't earn a commission. A pick is a pick. Money doesn't move it.
What we don't do
- We don't accept payment to list a destination or hotel.
- We don't accept free stays in exchange for coverage.
- We don't run sponsored posts, paid roundups, or "best of" listicles dressed up as editorial.
- We don't prioritize hotels based on commission rates.
Why we disclose
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires affiliate publishers to disclose any material connection between the recommender and the seller — clearly, conspicuously, and near the recommendation itself. We try to do better than the legal minimum: this page exists, the footer of every page says it, and any trip card or hotel link that earns us a commission is marked.

As of May 2026 we earn commissions from bookings made through:

- Airport transfers — Kiwitaxi, Welcome Pickups, GetTransfer, intui.travel
- Car & bike rental — Economybookings, GetRentacar, Localrent, QEEQ, AutoEurope, BikesBooking
- Travel eSIM — Airalo, Yesim, GigSky, Drimsim, Saily
- Other — EKTA (insurance), AirHelp & Compensair (flight compensation), Radical Storage (luggage), SEARADAR (sailing), TicketNetwork (events), NordVPN
A few hotel-booking partnerships are still pending approval. While those are pending, hotel “Check rates” links still point to the right hotel's booking page — we just don't earn a commission on those clicks yet. The pick doesn't change either way.
